The -ber Months
The -ber months are here- September, October, November and December. So what does that mean when it comes to decluttering and organizing?
If you love to decorate for the fall season and upoming holidays like I do, then it means that it is time to declutter those areas that you will be decorating. Maybe it's the counter, coffee table, buffet, mantle or any other area in your home that you love to change up this time of year.
This is a great time to go through things and paper you have been wanting to put away or sort through. Decluttering these areas will give you the space you want and it will also make your seasonal items stand out. They will not be camoflauged by items that don't belong.
If you like to go all out in your seasonal decorating, I recommend you remove some of your everyday decor. These items can be placed in the bins you are emptying out. This temporary holding place will give a place to store your items without having to figure out where to keep them in the meantime.
As you are going through your holiday and seasonal bins, consider donating items you have not used in the last few years. Styles change and you might be buying new things or you might have favorites that are your go-tos. It's okay to part with items you no longer love. I highly suggest doing this if you are adding new decor. Try to keep the same amount of storage by purging old items. This will alleviate having to find space for additional containers. Maybe there was a time when you decorated the entire house, but if that is no longer the case then why keep what you no longer use. Imagine some of that weight leaving your home! Ahhh, what a great feeling!
Something fun I like to do is to take pictures of my decor to look at the following year for inspiration, but also to see how I have used the same decorations in different ways.
